First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of my family, friends and faithful readers.
According to the Chinese calendar, the Year of the Dragon will end on February 10th and we’ll move into the Year of the Snake. I don’t know who is in charge of those declarations or in our own country’s proclamations or decrees, but I’m going to find out. I want to declare 2013 THE YEAR OF THE BLONDS. I think it could be a big year for Ellery and Sam and I vow to do whatever is necessary (well, within reason) to get my second literary baby, BLOND FAITH, published and available to my reading public. I also will get book three, BLOND JUSTICE, written with the goal of a 2014 release. It is about ¼ done, and has been that way for about 1-1/2 years.
It’s not that I haven’t been writing, though. I pulled out my solar calculator and crunched some numbers. Consider an average book weighs in at about 75,000 words. One of my blog posts runs about 900 words (a conservative average.) So with three blog posts a week for 52 weeks that works out to just a wee bit over 140,000 words. And blog posts are even more time consuming because they involve formatting and picture uploads and even finding video feeds. So I’m sure y’all didn’t need a calculator to figure out I wrote the equivalent of two books without writing more than 1,000 words on a publishable Blond novel.
So to that end I’ve decided to throttle back on the blog posts in 2013. Instead of three posts a week there will only be two (Mondays and Thursdays.) And I’ll try to keep them short and sweet and still fun and informative. I have some new stuff planned, with recipes and stories and some insight into my writing life. So don’t give up on me…yet!
On the good news side, I am going to dip my toe into the self-e-publishing pond as the novella (1/3 of a full-length novel) I’m working on is in the home stretch, so hopefully there’ll be a fun, quick (and cheap!) read available to everyone by the end of January. So look for that announcement soon.
In closing on this 380-word post, I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous, joyous, and BLOND New Year!
~Jayne

The order for the Chinese zodiac was decided when the Jade Emperor (ruler of Heaven in Chinese mythology) ordered all the animals to come before him. The first 12 animals that showed up are now the zodiac signs, in the order they appeared before him. Btw, Tiger rules! lol
